Hollywood Plunders $500+ mil Blockbuster Weekend Worldwide

LA Times and numbers from Boxoffice mojo report that Hollywood may have plundered the box office worldwide by beating early 2007 numbers. That would make Memorial Day Weekend, one of the most successful since the recession. This means good news for Universal Studios' "Fast Five," a heist film featuring high-speed cars that took in $86.2 million in its first weekend and has already passed the $500-million mark worldwide. Buena Vista and the Pirates franchise continues to plunder the box office with worldwide receipts adding up to $630+ million. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides leads the international receipts.
